Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav: Celebrating Northeast India's Textile Heritage: PM Modi

The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, currently underway in the nation's capital, is a celebration of Northeast India's rich cultural heritage, vibrant textile industry, and immense tourism potential. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent social media post, highlighted the event, referencing an article written by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. 

Scindia's article emphasizes the remarkable transformation of Northeast India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The region, once overlooked and underdeveloped, is now emerging as a key driver of India's growth story. Improved connectivity, digital inclusion, and significant investments in infrastructure have opened up new opportunities for the region.

Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sukanta Majumdar made a surprise appearance at the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav fashion show on Saturday. The two ministers, dressed in traditional northeastern attire, walked the ramp to promote the region's vibrant fashion and rich cultural heritage.

The eight northeastern states - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim - are often referred to as the 'Ashtalaxmi' or eight forms of prosperity. The three-day Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, held in New Delhi, celebrated the unique cultural identity and potential of these states.
