India's First Textile Machine Park: Kanpur's Hub

The Uttar Pradesh government is pushing forward with ambitious plans to revitalize its textile industry, with a key component being the establishment of India's first textile machine park in Kanpur. This park, slated for development near Bhognipur in the Chaparghata village, will occupy 875 acres and focus specifically on the manufacturing of textile-related machinery.

Mr.Rakesh Sachan, Minister – MSME, Government of Uttar Pradesh emphasized the need and importance for Textile Machine Park and also intimated that an in principal approval for the same has been received from Sri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh for this ambitious project.

A central pillar of the park's strategy is to foster global collaboration and attract investment from leading textile machinery manufacturing nations worldwide, including Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and countries across Europe. Mr. Ravi Bhushan Arora, CEO of Textile Business Digest, briefed the media about the role of indigenous manufacturing of Textile machinery in not only significantly boosting the exports but also in the expansion of domestic manufacturing capabilities both qualitatively as well as quantitatively. As per him, Indian Textile industry is targeting a total trade value of 350 billion USD by 2030. To achieve this ambitious target, India will require a substantial investment of approximately 70 billion USD out of which India would need to import almost 60-65% (worth INR 4 Lakh Crore approximately) of the total requirement of Textile machinery in the absence of further boosting the indigenous manufacturing, thus highlighting the critical importance of developing domestic manufacturing capabilities and potentially reducing reliance on costly imports.

Mr. Kumar Abhishek, Director – UKSL informed that Sri Giriraj Singh ji, Honorable Minister of Textiles, Government of India has extended the full support this project.

Circular knitting machines, flat knitting machines, diving knitting machines, printing machines, sewing machines, patient gown machines, and technical textile machines, which are essential for the textile sector, are imported from these countries. But now, they will be manufactured in Kanpur itself. The textile park that is being prepared in Kanpur will be set up in Chaparghata village near Bhognipur. More than 200 large and medium units will be set up in this park. Talks have also been held with several major companies regarding this.
