The Swiss Textile Machinery Association, based in Zurich, has announced new leadership, with Davide Maccabruni, CEO of Uster Technologies, taking over as president of the board. In this role, Maccabruni will be responsible for setting the association's strategies and key priorities. He emphasizes that the Swiss textile machinery industry possesses "unique strengths that can secure its success well into the future," and to achieve this, a focus on "aligning our capabilities, working together, and supporting one another" is essential.
Maccabruni takes over from Ernesto Maurer, who served as the association's president for the past decade. Maurer had been an active board member since 2011, assuming the presidency in 2015. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in enhancing the innovative strength and global prominence of the Swiss textile machinery industry.
Martin Zurcher from Heberlein has also been appointed to the board, joining existing members Beat Meienberger (Benninger), Andre Imhof (Autefa), Andreas Conzelmann (Jakob Müller), and vice-president Ralph von Arx (Retech).
Established in 1940, the Swiss Textile Machinery sector is Swissmem's longest-standing industry segment, currently comprising 42 affiliated companies. This includes manufacturers of machinery and components, as well as service providers for the textile industry. The association actively supports its members in driving innovation and education, with a significant emphasis on collaborative market access campaigns through successful international symposia. Recent events have been held in Mexico and the US, with an upcoming symposium scheduled for Morocco later this year.
